BATH-SHEBA - The Bride of King David & The Mother of King Solomon - by Paul M Hanssen

MOTHER’S DAY - 2022

By Pastor Paul M Hanssen

Sis Gwen and myself pray that you all have a blessed Mother’s Day as we celebrate the vessels chosen by God to bring us into this world. Imagine the responsibility, the surrender, the joys, the pains, the thrills, and also the let downs that a mother faces in allowing her life to be used as a vessel for “you” to come into physical existence and walk through this life to fulfill God’s ultimate will and purpose. Mothers, we honor you! May your life, sacrifices, and surrenders never have been in vain.

The following words are our “Mother’s Day Greeting” to you, but not just to the mothers, but to all of you! I wanted to teach this lesson in person and had intended to do so, but that is not going to be reality, therefore this written lesson.

Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart (Song of Songs 3:11).

Who is this “mother” for which the crowning of Solomon is given such credit? I want to talk about a mother within the pages of Biblical history who is not mentioned very often in sermons, and yet she was a very important person in the history of Israel. I am speaking of Bath-sheba. She was the wife of King David and the mother of King Solomon. Without Bath-sheba, Solomon would never have been seated on the Throne of David.

I recently taught about Solomon being a prophetic demonstration of the Man-Child, or the Manifested Sons of God. He pictures the love relationship with the Heavenly Father, hence it states that THE LORD LOVED HIM (2 Samuel 12:24). (In the same manner, however, he also pictures the Bride and Bridegroom relationship!! – this is a mystery for another day.)

Bath-sheba played a vital role in Solomon occupying the throne! Oh, she played a major role, and it is a role that the Bride relationship with the King, the lover of our soul, our blessed David, namely Jesus, also plays in our own spiritual lives.

Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him (1 Kings 1:5).

Let’s set the stage here – David is old, he is on his death bed – and a transferring of the power of the throne is about to take place very soon (usually after the present king is dead). But David’s son, Adonijah (meaning A WORSHIPPER OF JAH), decided he needed to grab the throne – so he did, or he tried.

Adonijah was the son of Haggith (Haggith was David’s fifth wife. David had eight wives – Michal, Abigail, Ahinoam, Maacah, Haggith, Abital, Eglah, and Bath-sheba). He had 20 children – 19 sons and one daughter, Tamar)

Adonijah was Haggith’s son – HAGGITH means to BE FESTIVE, CELEBRATE, to BE GIDDY, DANCE, REEL TO AND FRO, to OBSERVE FEASTS AND HOLIDAYS, and MOVE AROUND and AROUND IN CIRCLES.

Adonijah – the JAH worshipper – the offspring of frivolous festivity and observances, spiritually speaks to us of false worship, those who play church and yet are not part of the Church, those who make the worship of JAH into a giddy circus-like experience rather than the sincere, heartfelt, surrendered worshipping and bowing down from the heart. Adonijah speaks of the shallowness that has taken hold of the church world, the frivolousness and foolishness that has replaced true worship and godly sincerity [oh, we worship God, they say – just look at our programs, come see our stage, check out our performers, hear our professional band, etc.] This kind of stuff carries the spirit that wants to push “the rightful and true Manifested Son experience” aside and introduce shallowness and false celebration instead.

However, there was a MOTHER in Zion, a Jerusalem Mother, one who had a relationship with the King; this mother’s name means THE DAUGHTER OF THE OATH. I am speaking of Bath-sheba, David’s last wife – she is looking at this whole scene as it takes place before her eyes – she is taking note of the falsehood that is rising in the nation fully knowing that Adonijah is not the promised Man-Child and heir to the Throne of David. She knew this because of what David, himself, had said. David had already proclaimed who the promised son would be to inherit the throne; he had already made clear that this particular “son”, or this particular fruit produced by he and Haggith, was NOT who God intended to bring into the Father/Son relationship (we all have fruit of frivolousness within us). David knew that Adonijah was NOT the one to establish THE HOLY TEMPLE of God! Adonijah was NOT the one to erect the throne in the temple. The daughter of the oath therefore went to war for the true SONSHIP – the promised son of inheritance – Solomon!

And he (Adonijah) conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him. But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah (1 Kings 1:7-8).

Adonijah excluded these men from his procession and attempted takeover of the throne:

· PRIESTHOOD - ZADOK = justice, righteousness / High Priest over Tabernacle on

Gibeon

· WARRIOR - BENAIAH = Yah-weh has built up / A Levite and one of David’s mighty

warriors (eventually he became the commander of the military in Joab’s place)

· THE INSPIRED WORD - NATHAN = given, to bring forth / He was the inspired

prophetic voice in David’s time

· THE LOUD REPORT - SHIMEI = sound, a report / One of the worshippers and players

of the psaltery in David’s Tabernacle (1 Chron. 25:3)

· THE FRIEND AND WORKER - REI = friendly / he worked in David’s personal court

· THE MIGHTY MEN – those who carried the sword and stood for their King.

These men remained with David until the end. They fought for the throne. They fought for the establishment of Solomon and the Temple. THERE IS a ZADOK, a BENAIAH, a NATHAN, a SHIMEI, a REI, and MIGHTY CARRIERS OF THE SWORD within each and every one of us! Stir up the gift within you – rise in defense of the establishment of the Kingdom. Stir up the priestly mantle, stir up the warrior, stir up the inspired prophetic Word of God, stir up and scream aloud your choice and your report, and stir your stand and “friendship” for the true King! Make a stand and FIGHT ALONG SIDE BATH-SHEBA, make a stand in your Bride and Bridegroom relationship with the King.

Read the following scripture references in your Bible and see what Bath-sheba did. She was THE BRIDE OF DAVID AND MOTHER OF SOLOMON – (The Bride who became the mother to the Son who represents the Sonship, Man-child, Kingship relationship with the Father).

1 Kings 1:11– 34

Did you read it? Did you see?

Bath-sheba, the daughter of the Oath, the last wife of David, the one to bring forth the Man-Child, became a warrior for the fruit of her union with the King. She made a stand as she laid her life on the line. She stepped forward and bowed before the King, she spoke up, she was not about to allow the frivolity to take the throne, she would not stand idly by while the throne was usurped by a bunch of nonsense, she did not take a back seat but stood for what she knew was the truth, she did not allow the false worship of JAH to push her fruitfulness aside, she was not about to see the throne contaminated and robbed while the destiny of Israel lay in the balance. She made A STAND and she WENT TO WAR FOR HER STAND!!

Because of Bath-sheba, Solomon, the promised son, the one who God loved, (1 Samuel 12:24) took the throne and for another forty years the nation of Israel lived under the peace of God’s promise!

You and I have a role to play to see ‘God’s Kingdom’ come! What kind of ‘bride’ do you want to be; frivolous, shallow and false, or the daughter of the Oath, real, bowed down, sincere, and a lover of truth?

Make your stand today and choose which king inherits the throne within the Kingdom of God within you! I choose to be a mother in Jerusalem – I choose to be a Bath-sheba and fight for the fruitfulness of my womb to come forth and occupy his rightful place as “the Son of God”!!

Happy Mother’s Day!! 2022
